this is a little bit of older poetry, as filler. i wrote this sonnet for a stupendorificalious girl in july of 2003. i like sonnets. i like classical forms in general, but especially sonnets. sonnet rhymes with bonnet. we’ve never actually kissed, incidentally, this is me as a writer imagining a hypothetical what-if and putting it to page. that’s what we writers do. you know. make stuff up.
O smile that so unchains lost sentiment,
With rad’ence dropped from Heaven’s golden throne
of fire, that sparks a yearning long since pent,
to stoke an ancient burning so long known.
In dancing, laughter, I observe my soul
alive as ne’er before, uncaged at last,
Your shim’ring spirit makes my own heart whole
As joy meets equal joy in one die cast.
To stroke your hair or touch your skin what bliss
what wonder, trapped in an eternal place,
As time implodes upon our lover’s kiss,
and in the sweet perfection of your face.
In tight embrace the universe unfolds,
Bestows on us all secrets that it holds.
