all draped in beauty went my love
through spacious vastness drift
my eyes bathing her form
birds dance in the air as she pass
hued in red, gold, green, light
singing a song of want
a whispered secret i let spill out into airy
my love unknown for her name
unknown as well
if known it was by me
would say it in voiceless prayers
lips trembling as they mouth those perfects.
can touch a sky that leaps? or
hold tight the boundless sea swells of
bluish green and spume? as soon
these things as wrap thy mind
around
my love.
so, this is an older poem, but i realized that i didn’t take time to tell you that i adore it. i like that it’s shorter, actually, though i think that you use length really well and your longer poems don’t drag as longer poems sometimes do. i love the adoration at a distance, and the use of these abstrast things making physical contact with a woman who is herself an unknown, mysterious and a bit abstract. i guess i’m a sucker for unconditional adoration, which this pulls off in such a fervent way, without anything grasping or banal. i like it.
this poem is actually written for The Girl in the Cool Hippy Hats who is often to be found at the coffeehouse or the caspar.
just as a bit of trivia.
